Catamarca Governor Comments on Kirchner Case

The governor of Catamarca, Raúl Jalil, took a cautious stance when asked about the judicial situation of former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. During a radio interview, the provincial governor avoided delving into the verdict and preferred to focus on a general view of the prison system and social reintegration. According to the Argentine News Agency (NA), Jalil stated on Futurock radio: "I have no position on the conviction of CFK. I have not studied it." The governor, who maintains a dialogue with the national government, sought to distance himself from the legal controversy surrounding the former president. The economist expressed a general rejection of imprisonment: "I do not wish for anyone to be imprisoned in any case," he stated. In this sense, he highlighted the policies being implemented by his administration in Northwestern Argentina: "Furthermore, we have inclusion programs so that people released from prison can be integrated into the productive sector."
